A new Beginning

The world was blurry, its sharpness no longer evident. She felt weightless; that comforting pull of gravity no longer holding her down. Her mind was a vast space engulfed in total darkness. Concentrate as she might she was incapable of recall. Suddenly she felt someone sucking the air out of her lungs .Her mind commanded her to reach for the shimmering light she saw above. Her arms and legs flung on their volition to reach for the only place different from the dark abyss around her. She broke through to the light; instinctively she gasped as warm air gushed into her lungs. Her body glowed as the sunlight fell onto the glistening drops on her body. She couldn’t recall what the drops were. She skimmed her hand across the ripples around her, awed at how the blushful bubbles waltzed with her touch. She raised her hands giggling at how her fingers interlocked so perfectly. And then she saw in the water a sight which barricaded the warm air from rushing into her lungs. It was a mirage of the most mesmerizing creature she had ever seen. Its hair, a fiery red, fell in disarray around its shoulder. Its skin was moist with beaded bubbles winking at her. Its lips were lush, like ruby berries, trembling with premonition. Its skin was alabaster with rose hue cheeks and her eyes were a dazzling azure which darkened to almost honey in order to erase their vulnerability when it realized it was also staring at a stranger. Reflexively she swung her hands to shove the creature away, only to find her hand splash some of the magnificent bubbles again. Perplexed she stared yet again at the image as the bubbles settled. She breathed in deeply forgetting she had held her breath and saw the stranger's chest heave as did her own. She touched her cheek and saw that the mirage did the same. How eerie she mused.
She swung around as she heard a twittering sound behind her. It was then that she saw the splendor of her surroundings. She saw the lush mossed trees which towered above this blue lagoon . The greenery was abud with life . She saw the most fascinating creatures shrouded in a multitude of colors fly across the sky; their whistles reverberating like a siren beckoning her. The strangest little creatures, with a color that matched her eyes, with four tiny limbs flew relentlessly through the air from one tree to another. She waded out of the pool leaving a terrain of drops on the dry earth. She kneeled down and scooped up the dirt in her hands. She inhaled its musky invigorating scent; its bitter taste stung her tongue. She walked up to a tree and saw a thick honey colored liquid oozing out of its bark. She saw the funny little rounded bunches hanging from a vine. She broke one off and squeezed it and giggled as purple liquid flowed onto her hand. She warily touched the tip of her tongue to the liquid; not wanting a bitter taste again. Instead she tasted the most tantalizing flavor, the sourness of which made her shiver. She felt smooth leather brush against her ankle and saw a long creature as it slithered across her toes its scaly skin a canvas of speckled greens. Its feel was leathery for the brief moment her hands contacted its skin. Right in front of her a miniscule creature, with what she figured were a thousand legs towards the sky, lay wriggling. It seemed to be in discomfort so she placed it onto her palm and watched in awe at how it its legs moved across her palm at such mindboggling speed. It tickled her palm giving rise to a giddy sensation in her stomach so she placed her hand across the ground as it wriggled off of her alien palm onto its familiar territory.
The wind carried with it a mirthful sound; sound of laughter like her own. She rose drawn towards the peculiar sound and entered the shrouded path beyond this haven. She continued walking her step as light as a feather beneath the vines which bent with apples. The barred clouds bloomed the soft dying day as she drew near to the tinkling laughter. Then from behind the mossy green shrubs she saw a similar creature she had seen in the pool of bubbles. There was a fume of poppies in the air, making her drowsy .The creatures hair, as dark as ebony, softly lifted as the wind whispered. It sat across the dewy grass humming a melody so very enchanting. It was using a contraption to squeeze the same round purple bunches she had seen earlier. She was mesmerized as she saw the purple liquid ooze slowly into a basket. Then she noticed she could see less of the creature's bare skin. It had the same mounds on its chest like she did. They were strange to touch, plush and soft and as she touched them she noticed the dark ends transforming into pointed nubbins. It was a strange sensation; the same giddiness welling up in her stomach again. Her head shot up as she saw the source of the tinkling laughter again. It was a tiny creature like her but with shorter hair. It was skipping about giggling speaking in a language she could not comprehend. It went next to the other creature and put its arms around it and both of them laughed heartily. She had never seen a site as such that made something within her chest plummet and hit the bottom. She was intrigued by the protectiveness the bigger creature showed and the mirth they shared that sank into every seed of this meadow. She wished to reveal herself but her primitive instincts guarded her every move. A primal fear enveloped her and she remained stationery. Her mind coaxed her to go forward; such joy could never harm her; but her body refused to obey. The brightness above was waning and darkness began to shroud the terrain. She watched as the two creatures receded from her vision as if being carried away by the winnowing wind. Her feet stayed rooted and she listened helplessly as the tinkling laughter of the tiny creature and the hypnotizing melody became replaced by the wailful choir of the mourning crickets and the monotonous droning of the black beetles...
